History
Spanning years, countries and markets
ACCIONA, a global pioneer in development and sustainability, is breaking ground in North America. Our experience spans years, countries and markets—over 100 years, in 30 countries on 5 continents. Our business spans industries—from real estate and water treatment to infrastructure, energy and airport services. We are excited to bring our renewable energy, water and infrastructure businesses to North America.
Best of both worlds
Though publicly traded in Spain, ACCIONA is run as a family business with family values—loyalty, honesty, commitment.
For ACCIONA’s North American group of companies, we are proud that our roots are in a country that has led the world in sustainability. Our Spanish parent company’s stability and experience helps us to bring environmental jobs and sustainable resources to North American communities. Led by the pioneering spirit of the Entrecanales family, who started the company 100 years ago, ACCIONA is proud to expand our family globally with our North American business units.
How it all began
ACCIONA Infrastructures, founded in Spain in 1850, is the longest-standing company in the ACCIONA Group. On an international level, we are firmly established in strategic markets and have developed and participated in some of the most significant projects of the last 50 years. Some of the more recent projects include our work on the Petronas Towers in Malaysia, the Ting Kau Bridge in China and the Central Coastal Road Network in Chile.
ACCIONA Energy was formed in Spain in 1989 by three men with one idea: create a sustainable, renewable energy model. Beginning with the creation of three small-hydro power plants, our company grew to be a major player in all of the principle clean-energy technologies. ACCIONA Energy is ranked globally as a leading wind farm developer and constructor, and we’re among the top manufacturers of wind turbines, for which we use our own technology. ACCIONA Energy has been working in North America since 2003, developing and researching available natural resources to encourage a cleaner tomorrow.
ACCIONA Agua has been creating sustainable clean water since 1964. The company has always had a clear calling: to be the leader in water treatment, particularly desalination through reverse osmosis. Today, it delivers on that promise. ACCIONA Agua’s projects have contributed to the purification, recycling, desalination and management of water for more than 50 million people worldwide.
